Participating in the YSC Program

The YSC Program aims to support young people in Years 10, 11 and 12 at school in Brisbane’s north who are at risk of not completing their school education.

We accept referrals for the program from young people themselves, or from their parents, carers, guardian, family members or support workers. Referrals can be made by phone, email, or at our location in Bracken Ridge.

Enquiry and referral process

Jabiru REspec operates a team-wide referral process. This means that all referrals are taken to a case meeting, and the team decides whether the program has the capacity to provide ongoing support. Referrals are usually responded to within one week.

If the referral is appropriate for YSC, the YSC workers will meet with the young person at a suitable location (the young person is very welcome to bring along a parent/guardian/friend/support worker to make the process more comfortable). Together, the YSC worker and young person will discuss confidentially what support is required, and will form a plan for support.

If the referral is not appropriate for YSC, the worker will provide information and contacts about other services which may be able to offer the type of service required by the young person.
